Malick Bodian visits Mozambique

The second artist in our "Island Residence" series

November 2023: Global model, photographer and director, Malick Bodian visited Kisawa early this month, as part of our Island Residence series.

With the brief of visually documenting ‘modern Mozambique’, Malick traveled from Maputo, to Vilankulos to Kisawa Sanctuary, exploring the living and breathing connection between people and place that makes this nation so unique.

Kisawa is a huge fan of the Senegalese born artist, whose photographic career has seen him shoot covers for Vogue France and Vogue US, campaigns for Bottega Venetta, Chanel and Wales Bonner as well as debuting a nuanced African landscape exhibition in Paris this June.

Working with Malick was one of our 2023 highlights and introducing him to the nation, our island, our people and our sanctuary is an experience we will never forget.

Watch this space for his photographic essay on “modern Mozambique“.
